SC20

Tuesday, November 17, 2020 - Thursday, November 19, 2020

This event will be held remotely.

HPC is the underpinning for many of today’s most exciting new research areas, from machine learning to artificial intelligence to quantum computing. Working with science teams across disciplines, we are finding new ways to fight disease, combat poverty and homelessness, grow heartier crops, and better predict natural disasters.

Join SDSC for LIVE events at our virtual booth November 17 - 19!

  • Tuesday, November 17, 10:00 AM– 11:00am PT / 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM ET
SDSC's 35th Year Anniversary & Expanse Dedication (giveaway)
SDSC Director Michael Norman welcomes you to SC20! Celebrate with us as we mark our 35th anniversary as one of the nation’s top supercomputer and data science & engineering centers, located on the University of California San Diego campus. Plus, we will ‘e-dedicate’ our new Expanse supercomputer, the result of a National Science Foundation and the support from our key partners including AMD, Dell, and NVIDIA.

  • Wednesday, November 18, 10:00 AM– 11:00am PT / 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM ET
    Expanse is HERE! (giveaway)
Learn any level of detail about SDSC’s new Expanse supercomputer and why we’ve adopted the tagline “Computing Without Boundaries” to describe its wide range of capabilities. The presentation includes innovative system features and highlights, and will be followed by a brief panel session and Q&A. We also have a great selection of online tutorials, including how to transition to Expanse from our current Comet supercomputer, or how to apply for a research allocation on this all-new system

  • Thursday, November 19, 10:00 – 10:00 AM– 11:00am PT / 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM ET
    CloudBank (giveaway)
The CloudBank portal went into operation just a few months ago, so please join us to learn more about how this pilot program will address the NSF’s long-term vision to broaden the impact of public cloud computing across all sciences, and help ensure that students entering the workforce and research enterprise will be able to contribute and compete in the global economy. Join SDSC Director Michael Norman, and Shava Smallen, SDSC’s manager of cloud and cluster development and a CloudBank co-PI, to learn more about this new program. A Q&A session follows the presentation.
