Travel & Housing
Attendees are responsible for their own travel arrangements and expense to attend the Summer Institute.
The San Diego International Airport (SAN) is the closest airport to UC San Diego and SDSC.
On-campus apartment housing will be provided for funded GSI attendees and can also be made available to those participating without funding.
Selected funded participants may check in Sunday, August 7 through check-out Thursday, August 11. Attendees choosing CSIG-provided lodging will be asked to share an apartment with (1-4) attendees. Participants will have their own private room with shared bathroom, kitchen and living space. Roommates will be assigned according to gender and by request.
Check-in/out for on-campus apartment housing is at Eleanor Roosevelt College (ERC) Student Activities Center. Check-in is from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 7. Check out is from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 11. The 24-hour desk number for ERC housing is (858) 534-1142. See Campus Hot Spots Map for exact location.
If you are interested in extending your stay on either end of the Institute, campus housing has confirmed they have space available. The daily rate is $72.38 for housing (no meals). The extended stay is at your personal expense and will be collected in the ERC office when checking in. Check-in/out times remain 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. To extend your housing, note the dates of your stay in your response on the invitation returned to susan@sdsc.edu.
If parking is required, the ERC office can issue you an "S" parking permit as part of the housing package when checking in. The "S" permits are only valid in "S" marked YELLOW spaces. Attendees preferring to stay elsewhere may do so at their personal expense.
