TSCC 101: Accessing and Running Jobs on TSCC

Thursday, September 12, 2024

1:00 PM - 4:00 PM PDT

This event will be held remotely.

TSCC underwent major upgrades in early 2024. This TSCC 101 workshop will outline these changes for both new and existing users. We will start with an overview of the new TSCC architecture, followed by an explanation of the login and authentication process. Then, we will go over the TSCC condo and hotel allocations and accounting fundamentals. Next, we will then introduce our home, Lustre, project, and local scratch file systems as well as the software stacks built by the lmod environment modules.

We will describe the various SLURM partitions and QOS settings on TSCC. We will also describe job charging in detail as the updated charging formula which now accounts for all resource usage (memory, CPU, GPU). We'll provide in-depth information on using the srun command for interactive jobs and creating SLURM job scripts for submission via sbatch, including several examples. The workshop will conclude with an overview of job monitoring tools and our roadmap for future TSCC upgrades.
