Shelley Wright
A founding member of the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at UC San Diego, the experimental astrophysicist builds instruments such as cameras, spectrographics and telescopes to observe the universe in unique ways. One of Prof. Wright’s career-long research interests has been the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI). Her work includes building new devices that operate at unique wavelengths to search for what is known as “technosignatures”—signs of technology used in interstellar communication.
