San Diego Supercomputer Center Announces 2005 Computing Arts Contest for San Diego Students

The San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) at the University of California, San Diego is holding a visual arts contest for San Diego area middle school and high school students now through May 27, 2005. Three winners will receive an Apple iPod Mini digital music player and the sponsoring teacher will receive a $50 gift certificate to the UCSD bookstore.

To enter, students must start with the word "cyberinferastructure," which is defined as the integration of a broad spectrum of technology resources to facilitate science, engineering and societal goals. Students can then use a variety of media - paint, computer graphics, pencil or pen - to creatively express through visual arts what this word means to them. Artwork must be titled, signed by the student and must fit on 8 ½ X 11 paper.

The deadline for submissions is May 27, 2005 and award recipients will be notified on or before June 17, 2005.
