TSCC Hotel

TSCC Hotel Computing Program

Hotel computing provides flexibility to purchase time on compute resources without the necessity to buy a node. This pay–as–you–go model is convenient for researchers with temporary or bursty compute needs. The hotel cluster includes both CPU and GPU servers. The CPU servers feature a combination of Intel Cascade and Skylake nodes, while the GPU servers comprise a variety of GPUs, including multiple V100s, one A100, and one P100.

Compute Resources Available for Purchase

The units in the table below are in core hours. Though CPU/GPU hotel rates are the same, GPUs have a higher charge factor to reflect the higher performance compared to CPU. For UCSD affiliates, the minimum hotel purchase is $250 (10,000 SUs). For other UC affiliates, the minimum hotel purchase is $300 (10,000 SUs).

Recharge rates are subject to change with approval from the UC San Diego Recharge Rate Committee. Normal IDC rules apply.

Indirect Costs (IDC) for UC San Diego Users

Costs associated with Cloud Computing Services (research storage, managed services and cloud services) provided by SDSC are exempt from the application of IDC when acquired to support extramurally funded research. This includes Backup Storage (CommVault), Cloud Storage and Compute, Project Storage (NFS), Triton Shared Computing Cluster (TSCC), and Universal Scale Storage (Qumulo). When developing budgets for new research proposals, include these costs in the exclusions for modified total direct costs (MTDC).
