Week-long program focuses on the path to petascale computing
SDSC will host its 12th Annual Summer Institute "Taking Your Science to the Next Level: On the Path to Petascale Computing" July 17 - 21, 2006. The curriculum will focus on common limitations scientists face as extreme datasets push the high-performance computing ceiling towards petascale computing.
The week-long program includes lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions led by experts from SDSC and staff from other institutions. Instructors will introduce researchers to technologies that can help them reach their goals faster and more efficiently. Sessions include tutorials on performance characterization of codes on different machines, optimization techniques, profiling, debugging parallel codes, data mining, SDSC's Storage Resource Broker, using visualization tools and various case studies.
Deadline for applications is May 30, 2006 and space is limited to only 35 attendees. After submissions are reviewed, invitations will be offered to applicants that the selection committee feels will most benefit from the workshop.
Complimentary accommodations in UCSD student housing will be available to all student attendees and meals will be provided for all. Travel stipends will be available for qualified, matriculating graduate and undergraduate students at U.S. colleges and universities.
